Bespoke training in project management & evaluation for MA students at Bath Spa University.
Over three consecutive years of 2014, 2015 & 2016, Catherine ran two-day training courses at Bath Spa University for MA in Heritage Management & MA in Arts Management students in undertaking research and developing effective evaluation practices and activities.
In 2014 Catherine was contracted to design and run a training programme to support MA in Heritage Management students develop their understanding of the role of research and evaluation within project delivery. The training covered why we evaluate, benefits, methods, designing and embedding an evaluation plan.
In subsequent years the training was opened up to include MA in Arts Management students as well, and training was expanded, with the first day looking at project development and design considerations such as context, need, resource, locality and audience.
The training explored the importance & role of project briefs and evaluation plans, with the students exploring different elements including working with artists and freelancers, budgets, partnerships, legacy & sustainability, maximising and demonstrating impact. The training was delivered as a mixture of individual and group work exploring the theory, real-life examples of projects and students working on their own projects.
